Hi,

Unfortunately it is currently not possible to document sheet by sheet. However, you can document by process level, which will probably result in what you are looking for (since usually each sheet corresponds to a process level).

You can use a pattern similar to this:
%%PATTERN; type=activity;outlinelevel=1;recursive=false;hierarchical=true;elementfilter=Task%%

What is important is, it must be an activity pattern (do not let the name irritate you, you can filter by any element, not just activities) and the two attributes recursive=false and hierarchical=true must be set like this.

This pattern will insert a screenshot of the process level (the sheet) followed by the documentation of the elements therein.

Hopefully this is what you have been looking for.

I am trying to create reports (in this case information requirements) from my diagrams. In this particular instance, some of my information requirements are tied to events (messages and signals), rather than tasks.

I am using VBA in Visio to understand these dependencies (find the event, find which task it comes from, goes to etc). However, I can't determine the type of event in VBA. I can identify the master (yes, it is an event, or yes it is a task/sub-process, or yes, it is a pool). But I cannot identify the detail (e.g. if it is an event, is it a message, signal, complex etc?)

How can I find this information programmatically in VBA?

Thanks,

Hi,

according to the help context it is possible to hide specific attributes for certain reasons. If I do so, the user defined view changes, so far so good.
But unfortunately the tool doesn't consider these settings in the html export.
There he shows all attributes, even they're deactivated.
When I select the "propagate attribute" function the tool includes all attributes in the report.

Is there any possibility to export only those attributes, that should be visible?

Thanks in advance,

I have tried various combinations of %%Bpmn.Gateway.Gate.*%%, %%Bpmn.Gateway.Gates.*%%, but cannot find the one I want.

The other issue, very similar, is trying to list (in a neatly formatted way) the data objects associated with InputSets And OutputSets (sub-element of tasks).

The only option I can see is the creation of these attributes in the attributes created by the user, so if they appear in the report, but the format for the duration of KPI is not the best.
Can you tell me how it may appear that this information in the document generanadola from the information recorded in the attributes of the system and not the way that I created.

I am trying to create my own template using the outlined guidance that comes with Process Modeler 5. I am having trouble to get the generation to iterate throughout my sheets in the vsd. So essentially, The BPMN diagram I have has 10 sheets. Sheets 2 - 8 are sub-processes of their parents which are in sheet 1. Sheets 9 and 10 are sub-processes of their parents which are in sheet 5. I want it to generate as follows:

.
.
.

To accomplish this right now, I am doing the following within the template:

%%PATTERN;type=graphics;sheets=1;ignoretitleblock=true%%

%%PATTERN;type=graphics;sheets=2;ignoretitleblock=true%%

.
.
.

%%PATTERN;type=graphics;sheets=10;ignoretitleblock=true%%

This works fine and well right now, however there are a couple areas of concern. Fore one, if the number of sheets changes, I have to go into the template and add another block for that sheet. Also, the attributes that I am looking for (Lane(s), Documentation, I/O, etc) are not being pulled from the vsd but just reside in the template. Essentially, can you tell me how I can iterate throughout my sheets without having to have a block for each one? Also, can you tell me how to pull the attributes (for each corresponding sheet) I am looking for in template notation so I dont have to "hard-code" them?

Also: some weeks ago I created a new root-folder for my BPMs, meaning that I just added one new folder on top of the file/folder hiearchy for my bpms and related docs.
Old subject, but I have this problem in PM 5. Additionally; trying to relate a new document to a task says: "Error" with following explanation: "Microsoft Word is currently not installed. Please install it first." I do have MS Word, and I have made doc-relations before.

Can it be a recent MS update/fix that causes this problem?

Yes, it could be that .Net Fx will cause such errors.
Please try to use .Net Fx. 1.1.
Further it's recommended to use Process Modeler4 SR4 (available 22nd of December).
If the error will resists please upload the diagram which will force this error.

When I attempt to create a Word document from the Process menu I get the following error:

Unable to cast COM object of type 'Interop.Word.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Interop.Word._Application'.

I am evaluating Process Modeler 4 SR3 on a Windows XP Pro desktop SP 2.
I am running .NET 2.0 and it did mention it was not recommended. Do you think this would be the cause of the problem?

Thanks!

What you have to do:
Choose or develop an appropriate process documentation template (.DOT file).
Then change the doclet for the gateway. If you use the default documentation environment you can change the doclet “gtw_g001.rtf” under the installation directory. We recommend to copy this file and rebind it via Options-Dialog --> documentation to the appropriate traversal pattern [Generic, Activity< etc.].

The content of the new doclet could then show like this%%Bpmn.*.Graphics%% | %%System.*.number%% | %%Bpmn.*.Name%% | %%Bpmn.*.ElementType%% | %%Bpmn.Gateway.Documentation%%

Did you know that the "How to create process documentation" will also be described in the default template (default.dot) of Process Modeler?

Best regards

Are you using the default Process Documentation template when creating the Documentation?

In the default Process Documentation template, the Gateways are currently not documented (only FlowObjects (without Gateways), Pools and Lanes).

If you would like to include the Gateways, you have to change the Process Documentation template or create a new template.
